About Ejam
Our Beginning
Being always interested and involved with tourism in West Sikkim, Mr. Harka Prasad and family under the encouragement of Women Empowerment initiatives in Sikkim, started their homestay in 2002. It was then that they welcomed their first guests to Ejam Homestay. A group of Singaporean and American students who had visited India for the purpose of Social Exchange and Ecological Environmental dissertations.
Located in Yuksom, a heritage village, ensconced amidst rich forests, accentuated by its history, architecture and Buddhist legacy that evolved from the 17th century, the village always saw an influx of tourists, researchers and adventures. To cater to this increasing demand for accommodation, Ejam Residency was built and established in 2010 apart from the current homestay.
Situated further off, nestled away from the bustle of the village or vehicles, the Residency is surrounded by trees on one side and small farms on the other. This provides the property an atmosphere of surreal peace and calm in the already quiet village that Yuksom is.
The kitchen as well as the duty of the hostess is handled by daughter-in-law Mrs. Ilu Doma Bhutia and family. Hence even though the façade and amenities of the property may feel modern, the experience of the stay is filled with the same warmth, comfort and hospitality as one would expect from a humble homestay.
